Liz Carding

Liz Carding was born and brought up in mid Cheshire, then moved to Dorset to study for a degree in Geography and Landscape studies. This led to a 40 year career in countryside management. Moving to the Wrexham area in 1987, Liz helped to develop and manage many of Wrexham’s parks and green spaces, as Senior Countryside Officer for Wrexham Council.

Liz has always had a strong bond with her surroundings, the landscape and its interpretation.

As part of her countryside work she organised and ran many environmental arts and crafts events for children and families and also ran a spinning group for adults, using the fleece from the sheep that lived at Ty Mawr Country Park.

Since retiring from full time work Liz has developed her own art work inspired by the local landscape.

‘Textile, especially sheep fleece is one of my favourite mediums to work with, and I especially enjoy making felt landscapes, using dyed fleece.

By contrast I also love the definition and clarity of lino printing, which really taxes the brain in the design and cutting processes.

I also enjoy running workshops for adults, schools, and children/families.’
